Schedule Shenanigans, Rain & Steve

It seems whomever made out the schedule made some errors and mine has been corrected. Haven't spoken to the manager but when I checked online this morning my hours had been put back to what they are supposed to be. Thank goodness.

It's been raining for two days. I need to get some things done outside before Winter hits and I should have done it Monday when the weather was nice. But I procrastinated...again.

Looks like we've got another kitty. Steve has decided that this is his new home and who am I to argue with him? He really is a sweetie. And a bit of a pig.

Gary, the Weather and Eagles

The medicine seems to have helped Gary. He's doing much better. He's an indoor-outdoor cat but while he was sick I kept him inside. He did not like this one bit and made sure we knew his feelings. I didn't sleep much for several nights.

The weather has finally cooled down a bit. It is 84 degrees today but the humidity is down so it's not miserable out there. I opened the windows for the first time in maybe two weeks.

I'm really looking forward to Wednesday. The Wildlife Center of Virginia will be releasing the 3 Eaglets from the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. It has also been announced this morning that 2 more young Eagles will be released at the same time. They plan on streaming live video of the event and I'll be glued to the computer all day.

Enough already!

Last week we had temps in the 50's and most of the snow melted. Sunday night we got another 8 inches or more. I've had enough of Winter. Even though February is the shortest month of the year, it sure seems to drag on and on.

I finally got around to putting a new door knob on the back door of the garage where the 'would be' thief broke in on Christmas night. I put in a dead bolt lock, too. Next week I'm going to install a motion detector light back there. Hopefully if someone is nosing around again, a light coming on may discourage them.

I had a bit more PVC pipe leftover so I made another Chickadee nest box. Can't wait til the weather gets warmer so I can put it up. Hopefully the Chickadees will like it.

Burrrrrrrr!

Don't think I'll be having a picnic any time soon.

The 'experts' tell us this is due to global warming...uh huh!

Love This Weather

Looks like we're having Indian Summer this week. It's supposed to get up to 65 degrees today. Love it.

I thought I had seen all the new birds I could expect to see this year what with winter on the way, but today I actually saw two new species. One is a European Starling which was on his own. They usually travel in large flocks. I hope he moves on and doesn't tell his friends. They are aggressive, ugly and will clean your feeders out in a matter of hours.

But this beauty was wonderful to see. She is an Evening Grosbeak.

She sat on the branch, pretty as a picture, for quite a long time. Eventually she made her way down to the feeder to eat. Unfortunately, she didn't get to eat much because a Blue Jay came and chased her off.

I hope she has a male companion. I looked at some images online of male Evening Grosbeaks and they are gorgeous.

Bright Light!!! Bright Light!!!

Something strange is happening around here. I awoke this morning to a blinding light in my eyes. At first I had no idea what it could be...then it dawned on me...it was the sun!!! Haven't seen much of it this summer so I'd forgotten what blue skies and sunshine looked like.

Still no news regarding the MRI I had last Tuesday. My knee is doing better. I'm able to walk a bit without crutches but still have swelling and can't straighten my leg completely. I'm going a bit stir-crazy, though. How is one supposed to enjoy time off from work if one can't do anything?

I've been having some fun though thanks to my niece Sherry. She's been updating her website, Studio Pashnada and I've been making some buttons and tags for her using Paint Shop Pro. That program is addictive. I can play with it for hours and not even realize how much time has passed.
