Sunday night Dan came to look through his tools and nothing is missing. I'm convinced the thief was still here when I got home. He probably heard the garage door opening and high-tailed it out the front door in the breezeway. I found footprints in the snow that indicate he went out that way. And since nothing was missing, it appears he was in a big hurry to scram!
What an awful feeling though. I don't know what I would have done if I'd seen him...probably freak! I can't believe I didn't see or hear him but I'm so oblivious to my surroundings most of the time. It's a coping mechanism which I've developed over the years working in retail. If you ignore everything around you...it'll go away. Right???
I'm gonna have to either get a gun or a great, big Rottweiler with huge jaws.
Hey! I could name him Jaws.
I love dogs!

Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men, eh?
Sometime yesterday while I was celebrating the birth of our Saviour, some creep(s) broke into the house. I got home from Dan's at about 8:30 and when I pulled into the garage I found the breezeway door wide open. Not only did the creeps break-in, they left my door wide open which means the furnace was running non-stop for who knows how long.
They came in through the back door in the garage...broke the lock. I found footprints in the snow coming from the front of the house to the back door but couldn't see any going back the other way.
So far I haven't found anything missing in the house. There's nothing worth stealing in here. But Dan's tools he used for his job are out in the garage. They're worth thousands and I don't know if anything is missing. The top of the toolbox was open and the contents all messed up. He's been sick all week so I don't know when he'll be able to come and check on them. A report will have to be made if things were stolen.
I'm hoping they were just thinking they would find some nice Christmas presents to steal but I had taken all the presents with me when I left earlier in the day. There's no cash in the house so they were disappointed there, too. This is the fourth time since I've lived here that thieves have helped themselves to what isn't their's. The other 3 times they didn't come into the house, though.
Merry Christmas indeed.
